The University of Macau (UM) is the only public comprehensive university in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) is one of the largest faculties in the University. FBA is a well-established full-service business faculty with AACSB and AMBA accreditations and full membership of EFMD. Department of Finance and Business Economics
The Department of Finance and Business Economics (FBE) is one of the four departments at FBA. Currently, it houses more than 20 academic staff with international exposure in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, USA, etc. Through impactful research, the FBE academic staff strive to contribute to the economic and financial stability and the sustainable growth and diversified development of Macao, the Greater Bay Area and beyond. In addition, FBE has built up close connections with the banking and financial institutions and the Macao SAR Government, as well as with local and professional associations in the Greater Bay Area.
FBE offers programmes at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. The programmes have been designed to provide students with a strong theoretical and empirical foundation to meet the expectations and high standards of industries, as well as prepare students for further study in top-notch universities around the world. The Bachelor of Science in Finance programme is recognized by CFA Institute under its University Affiliation Programme since 2012, for covering a significant portion of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK), together with other eligibility requirements.
Head of Department
As part of its strategic development, FBA is conducting a global recruitment of Head of Department of Finance and Business Economics. The successful appointee will be at the rank of Full Professor/Distinguished Professor/Chair Professor. The position requires:
- A PhD in Finance or Economics, or a closely related field;
- A proven publication track record in top-tier refereed journals in Finance or Economics, or related areas;
- A demonstrated record of high-quality teaching at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels, and executive programs;
- Record of excellence in PhD student supervision;
- Proven leadership skills and experience in mentoring young academics;
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills;
- Demonstrable success in fostering external cooperation, knowledge transfer, and community relationship;
- Proven administrative experience in higher education institution is an advantage;
- Proficiency in English is required as it is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in 2022.
Remuneration
Remuneration will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
